Is the traditional meaning of family is devalued in favor of a career ?? Is there a new trend in the world, compulsion, a kind of selfishness or common sense? Why, what more often, we decide to be singles, and whether that certainly is our choice?
Changes taking place at the turn of the century clearly show the persistent structuring of new forms of social life. Not long ago, understanding the family as a
a unit consisting of a married couple with two or more children where the breadwinning father goes out to work while the mother stays home to keep house and care for the children and her husband.
It sounded very familiar. Today, in the era of globalization, free movement of people, the mixing of cultures, economic and financial crises, economic wars, the wars we are forced to adapt to new forms of social life. One of the key moments that helped change the perception of the family in the traditional sense, was the opening of borders within the European Union between countries that have entered into the Schengen area. In many families, the low wages in the home country have been forced to indecision over the choice of departure abroad, in order to better pay, not when a life and thus, leaving the family.
Often working abroad proved illusory dream, outrageous living conditions, or in extreme cases, death. A perfect example are the Poles, who soon after the opening of the border with Britain en masse began to come to this island and supporting economic development. United Kingdom appeared as a dream of a better life, appreciation by employers, where everything seemed possible and transfer to their families in Poland every hard-earned pound. Now, They are highly valued managers.
Another country that was perceived as a paradise on earth were Italy, which tempted the sun, beaches, fruits, cheeses, wines and cheerful always the smiling locals, but in this case, the dream has become a nightmare that ended with the discovery by Italian police graves of Poles, who died in unexplained circumstances, or so-called slave-markets in the town of Foggia in the beautiful and largely undiscovered by tourists – Puglia.
The pursuit for a better life, career or regular paid work, start a new reality may end up differently. Most of us traveling, or happened to migrate to another place, leaving our loved ones.
We inner monologues what we should do if we do well, and what would happen if … and so it goes. Each of us is looking for its place in the world, his career, and this forces us to constantly move.
Not once in the street or chatting with random people can hear that they have to go to another place, to another country, because they want to fulfill, which is associated with solitary wanderings.
Being with another person, we take responsibility for it, together we make decisions and try to think positive, that somehow it would be, but in the era of globalization being together more often associated with disadvantages which are common place of residence, or distance + time that separated people and often was the reason for the end of even the most perfect relationships.
This raises the question whether in fact being single is a trend in the world, coercion, type of selfishness or common sense, which tells us the other person also develop?
